Practitioners of Allopathic Medicine, or the Doctor of Medicine (MD), follow traditional medical practices, focusing on disease diagnosis and treatment with medication and surgery. Practitioners of Osteopathic Medicine, or the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), receive additional training in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) and focus on preventive care and viewing the body holistically. Both roles can specialize in various medical fields.
